~Continue Flashback~

I had finally found him. He was hiding in a large rock wall. He was the same color as the wall, you see, and he camoflauged perfectly. Packs of humans walked right by him, completely unaware of his presence. If it hadn't been for my enhanced eyesight, I never would have seen him pressed up against that wall. When there were no more humans walking by, I slithered over to where he was.

"Slice! You're alright! But...Where is your mother?"

A pit formed in my stomach. I didn't want to reply. He looked away. "I understand."

Suddenly there was an earsplitting crunching noise, followed by many loud pops and cracks. I dove for cover, my mind reeling. The human weapons were cutting down the largest tree in the forest. The crunching noise grew louder and moaning was heard as the tree began to fall. Terrified screams of humans echoed through the forest. Then all was silent. I jumped up and ran as fast as my drakling legs would take me, tripping over the bloody carcasses of humans, their bodies broken by the sharp branches of the tree.

I ran past something tan. I stopped and glimpsed hooked claws connecting to the tan foot of my father. I desperately used my teeth and claws to tear at the branches, ripping them away. I found the rest of my father, crushed under the tree. He was covered from the base of his neck down, his head was bent at an odd angle and a trickle of blood ran down the corner of his mouth. He shifted his head slightly, and when he spoke, his voice was raspy.

"Slice," he murmered, "Fly...Fly away...You are ready...Avenge me...Avenge us..."

He heaved a great sigh and moved no more. I leaned my face close to his and whispered, "I will avenge you, Father. I will avenge all of us. I promise."

After that, I went on a rampage. I stripped the bark off of the tree. I curled my claws into fists and pounded the rock wall. I roared at the full moon.

"I WILL AVENGE US!" I screamed. "HUMANS WILL PAY FOR THIS! YOU WILL PAY!"

~End Flashback~

I shook my head. Musn't think about that now. That was 110 years ago. I curled my weak, slender human fingers around my long, brown human hair. Disgusting beasts, humans are.

I rolled my eyes, and walked through the doors of the 'school.' I had decided to attend human school, to make it seem more convincing that I was not a dragon. It was my first day, and I needed to find some sort of human name, for Slice seemed irrelevant to the other names I had heard. I walked up to a female who seemed to be around the same age as me. "Um, excuse me?'

She turned around and made a weird expression with her human lips. "What do you want?"

"Well, I was wondering.. What is a good..erm... Human name?" I asked, fiddling with my hair. She rolled her eyes, a gesture which I had taken to be annoyance.

"What a freak," she scoffed to the other females in her group. "Doesn't even have a name."

They started to laugh, a horrid sound, really. One female, however, did not laugh. Instead she made an angry gesture at the others, and stepped out of the group. She looked at me and moved her lips in another sort of gesture, though this one seemed more friendly.
